Giants request interview with Joe Hortiz for vacant GM position

The New York Giants will begin their general manager interviews on Wednesday — three days removed from the retirement of Dave Gettleman. And now, they’ve added a ninth candidate to the docket.

Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports that the Giants will speak to Baltimore Ravens of player personnel Joe Hortiz.

Hortiz is another name that has been speculated about for weeks. Giants Wire wrote about him previously:

Joe Hortiz has been Baltimore’s of college scouting for the past seven years and has been with the Ravens in various roles for 19 seasons. Baltimore is one of the NFL’s smarter teams and draft very well. The question is, can Hortiz run the whole gamut as a GM?

In addition to Hortiz, the Giants will interview these eight candidates:

Buffalo Bills assistant general manager Joe Schoen
Kansas City Chiefs executive of player personnel Ryan Poles
Tennessee Titans vice president of player personnel Ryan Cowden
Tennessee Titans of player personnel Monti Ossenfort
San Francisco 49ers assistant general manager Adam Peters
San Francisco 49ers of player personnel Ran Carthon
Arizona Cardinals vice president of personnel Adrian Wilson
Arizona Cardinals vice president of player personnel Quentin Harris

Schoen will be the first man up on Wednesday. He will meet with Giants co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch via Zoom.
